Warning: HOBBIT 3 SPOILER ALERTS!

The Epoch Times Reports that The Hobbit There and Back again, slated for a December 18, 2014 release date (with no trailer out yet), will finish the second Lord or the Rings trilogy.

The story and plot are leaking out through some sneak peeks and spoilers. Let’s take a look at some.

-Legolas will catch up to Bolg.

-It’s unclear if Thranduil and his elves will enter any of the fights (Smaug vs. Laketown, Orcs vs. whoever), the One Ring blog speculates. One thing that could draw him into a fight is a desire to bring back Legolas and Tauriel.

-Tauriel has another choice–whether to stay with the dwarves and Bard’s children, or try to catch up to Legolas.

-The other elves–led by Galadriel, who left Gandalf to inform her of what’s happening–also have a choice of whether to enter into the impending war. That choice could turn into a must if the Orcs show up at her city.

-It’s pretty likely that Bard will get out of prison at some point and possibly shoot the dragon down. What’s not clear yet is who will free him.

-Gandalf will get out of his imprisonment, based on what happens in the Lord of the Rings movies that are set at a later time. Since Saruman was exposed as a dark wizard in those movies, we may not see him again in this one, or he may still be fighting for the good side.

-Whatever happens, There and Back Again is going to be filled with action, as opposed to the first two movies that were a bit slow at times, Peter Jackson told Yahoo! Part of that could be the massive clash that is in J.R.R. Tolkien’s original novel, between elves, men, dwarves, and goblins on the footsteps of the Lonely Mountain.
